Battle Scars and War Wounds

It's amazing how one single happening can completely alter a whole day's events. Such a day occurred for me yesterday.

So, it started out pretty normal. Tru playing XBox with dad, girls playing in the living room, and I having a nice conversation in the dining room with my sister-in-law Brenda. The next thing I know, Olivia is crying and saying she's bleeding. Now normally, this is really not THAT huge of a deal. Olivia is my tom boy. She is always doing SOMETHING to scrape her knees, elbows, or whatnot. In fact right now she is sporting a goose egg on her forehead from a spill she took almost a week ago.

Well...not this time. Cathy brought her into the dining room to show me the war wounds, and needless to say she was POURING blood out of her foot! The poor baby stepped on one of Tru's transformer toys, and as a result had a huge gash in the crease of her little pinkie toe.

When I first looked at her injury, it looked real bad. It was a VERY deep cut, so...Brenda, Don , and I all piled into Brenda's car and headed out for the emergency room. On the way there, the bleeding stopped, and after another look, it looked like we would be able to treat the injury ourselves.

After a quick trip into Eckerd's drugstore for first aid supplies, and some M&M's for the patient, we headed on back home. Once we doctored her up with a bandage and some Tylenol, daddy settled her on our bed, and propped her foot up with a pillow, and indulged her with a story from her new Bible about Samson - the strongest man.

Now that day 2 has come to a close, Olivia has been up for a little while walking, but I put a quick end to that when I saw her bandage coming off for the second time. I worry that she is going to open up the wound again SO...for the next few days, we will be keeping a low profile for awhile so that her foot will have the chance to heal properly.

Here are a couple of pics of "Wee-wa" after we set her up today on the couch in Gernie's living room.
