For years my family has been good friends with the Maxwells who are missionaries to Africa. Well the Maxwells are back in the states for a little while, and we were able to visit with them for a few days. A couple days before they arrived, I told my kids that were were getting a visit from missionaries from Africa, and the girls especially were excited. At church this summer they had been learning about sharing what they had with children less fortunate (i.e...such as the children in Africa)...so every morning before they finally came, the girls would wake up and ask, "Is today the day the missions are coming?"
While they were here, the kids had so much fun. We were able to get a picture in right before they left...
Mackenzie was very sad to see them go...she cried a little when they left. I had never seen her get so emotional about someone she had just met. She grew quite attached to this couple, and they left a BIG impression on my little girl.
I just had to add this one picture of Mackenzie doing Jenny's hair one night. The girl's called her Shoshee, which is Jenny's African name...

Mackenzie is sooo sweet...I bet she left an impression on them too!
Hey Jenn, Thanks for the note on my blog. I know there is a certain nostalgia as an era closes and a new one begins. It was good that we got to go "home" in July, so we could in essence have closure there.
So are you still in NY? Are you and Don thinking of moving back? How is homeschool going? Fill me in when you a few.
Blessings, Teri
